Since launching her own production company in 2024, Lakshmi has produced a roster of short films including narrative, documentary, and commercials on a variety of themes including, the industrialisation of time, mental health in the arts, sustainability in the floral industry, and women's rights in Italy. She is currently developing her first two features.
She frequently collaborates with Te Collective, an international artists collective she co-founded that aims to create work in conversation with Giorgio Agamben's philosophical notion of the 'bare life'.
In 2023, Lakshmi wrote, produced and co-directed a play inspired by Augusto Boal's method of The Theatre of the Oppressed. The play, called 'The Disciple', used the parable of Dante's Inferno to explore the authoritarian political machinations and usage of rhetorical manipulation that underpinned the trial of Socrates in ancient Greece. She cast non-actors in order to explore the potential for the experience of radical theatre making to provoke community-wide political and social transformation.
